Full Depth Reclamation Using Cement Slurry Article Appears in Township News
An article written by PCA staff and highlighting cement slurry used for Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) is currently featured in the May issue of Pennsylvania Township News magazine. The magazine has a current circulation of over 7300 individuals. The article describes the FDR process and then focuses on the use of cement slurry to facilitate the process.

We are very pleased that the article was placed in the magazine and have received positive feedback from those that have read it.

A PDF version of the article is available on the SpecifyConcrete.org website. Should you have any questions regarding the technology or have an opportunity to promote it for a project please contact Ken Crank.

Parking Lot Design Reference Guides Added to SpecifyConcrete
We continue to add content to our SpecifConcrete.org website. Most recently we have added two quick reference guides for determining pavement thickness.

These guides are "user-friendly" so you do not need to be an engineer to use them. You do however have to have some information regarding soil conditions, traffic counts, and concrete strength.

Please download this information as needed. Also, feel free to share this information with your contractor and design contacts. The links are below:

ACI 330 Quick Design Guide

If you have any questions regarding using these documents or would like assistance on promoting a concrete parking lot in your market, please contact Ken Crank.

West Branch COG Event Features Cement Slurry FDR Demo
Readers of this newsletter are aware of our efforts to successfully have full depth reclamation facilitated by the use of cement slurry added to Pub 408.

Most recently this technology was demonstrated to a group of approximately 40 municipal employees at the West Branch Council of Governments (COG).

The event saw a small section of roadway at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds "improved" through the use of cement slurry and piece of equipment ironically called an "Asphalt Zipper". The equipment mixes pulverizes existing soil/pavement then simultaneously mixes it with the cement slurry that is distributed across the pulverized area. We have included a couple of pictures from the event with this article. In addition video footage was taken during the demonstration which will be added to our website shortly.

Attendees from several townships expressed serious interest in the technology and we are hoping that one of them will pull the trigger on its use.

Our thanks go out to Rory McCoy (Centre Concrete) who spearheaded the effort to conduct the demonstration as well as personnel from Asphalt Zipper that provided the equipment and oversight of its use.

If you are unfamiliar with the technology or the PennDOT specification that was referenced earlier, please visit the Cement Slurry FDR page of our website.
