SBA Releases Report Touting Value of Small Businesses
The federal Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy has released a report which indicates that small businesses account for 44 percent of U.S. economic activity, creating "two-thirds of net new jobs and driv[ing] U.S. innovation and competitiveness." The three largest small business sectors contributing to small business gross domestic product were (1) the real estate and rental and leasing industry; (2) wholesale and retail trade; and (3) the manufacturing and mining sector.The full report may be accessed here and the summary here.

Safety Webinar Scheduled for February 22, 2019
OSHA' has new information on its website regarding Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (29 CFR § 1910.1053). Attorney Adele Abrams will be conducting a webinar entitled, "Silica Enforcement Update" on February 22, 2019 at 10 a.m. to discuss OSHA's recent actions.Registration for this webinar starts here. Following a successful January Concrete 101 class, and as discussed at the PACA Combined Technical Community Meeting an additional Concrete 101 has been added for 2019. The class outline and registration link is below.

Concrete 101 – Concrete Mix Designs

This class will allow those new to the industry and those who wish to learn more about concrete mix designs an opportunity to design concrete mixes with hands-on guidance from our faculty of industry experts.

10:30 AM - Mix Design Procedures and Examples

Design & Control of Concrete Mixtures, PCA EB 001, is the required reference for this course.

You may either bring your own copy or purchase a copy through PACA.

Concrete 201 – The Next Step in Mix Design Knowledge

Concrete 201 returns for 2019 and this year will be offered at the PennDOT Materials Laboratory.

This class features hands on practice and training from our expert faculty on next level mix design topics including: Lightweight, Slip Form, Pumping Adjustments, High Strength, SCC, Heavyweight, AWA, and RCC. The course begins at 8:30 am., and adjourns at 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.
