| Important Industry Conference Call on Active Work Zone Legislation Slated |

APC has been working on the passage of Senate Bill 172 to protect employees in active work zones. Time is running out as the fall legislative calendar is light on session days due to the upcoming general election.
APC is asking all construction, construction materials and engineering companies to join an industrywide conference call at 10 am on Tuesday, August 28 to get prepared for a final push on the bill.
Studies show that on average 14 motorists and 2 highway workers are killed in work zones each week nationwide. Senate Bill 172 is about saving lives!
Senate Bill 172 is modeled after a similar program that has been operating successfully and reliably in Maryland since 2010. And, when Maryland's program began, 7 percent of motorists were driving through work zones at 12 miles per hour over the posted speed limit or faster. Today, that proportion has dropped to less than 1 percent. We fully expect to see similar results in Pennsylvania saving countless lives-not only highway workers but among the traveling public as well.
